When home skin care products aren't effective but you aren't ready for surgery, consider nonsurgical skin rejuvenation treatments like microneedling to help bring back your natural glow. Atlanta, GA plastic surgeon Dr. John P. Connors is pleased to offer microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy), which uses a collection of fine-gauge needles to safely and effectively create micro-injuries in the needed areas of the skin. The micro-injuries trigger the body's natural production of collagen and elastin, two nutrients that enhance the health and appearance of the skin. As the skin heals, it creates a skin regeneration process leading to a softer, smoother, healthier complexion. Schedule a consultation at John Connors, MD Plastic Surgery to learn more about the benefits of microneedling and ways to customize the treatment for your skin needs and goals.
You may benefit from microneedling if you have slight to moderate skin issues, such as rough skin texture or low elasticity. Microneedling treatments can also reduce the appearance of pores, scars, and stretch marks. We discuss expectations during the consultation, and inform patients that the results may not be immediate. Collagen and elastin need time to have an effect on the skin, but in a matter of a few days or short weeks you will have natural-looking results and gain better overall skin health.

"Maggie is the GOAT of injectables! She’s knowledgeable and not pushy. When I asked her what she thought I needed, she handed me a mirror and said “What do you not like about what you see..” What a great way to get an answer. I’ve had injectors in the past just push push push...made me feel like I needed an entire facelift mixed with laser mixed with you name it. Maggie is my go to forever! Worth the money!"- G.B. / Google / Nov 22, 2019
"I’m very thankful a friend referred me to Dr.Connors! He is extremely professional & took time to address all of my concerns. When he got out his ruler and measuring device (no clue what it’s called) to measure symmetry etc at the consultation, drew pictures, brought out a diagram.. I knew his attention to detail was what I wanted and needed! I had so many questions and concerns and he did not rush me at the consultation. His pricing is fair and not over priced. His office staff are very professional as well. One year later & I’m still happy with the decision to get my breast augmentation done with Dr.Connors!"- A.V. / Google / Nov 15, 2019
"I had a mommy make-over including a tummy tuck, breast reduction, and liposuction. I look like a brand new person. I don’t think I realized how much damage was done to my body from 3 C-sections until the repair was done. Dr. Connors is amazingly skilled, kind, caring, and his entire staff follows his example. The nurses and desk staff are lovely and have been so helpful and responsive to me. I would recommend this practice highly!"- H.M. / Google / Oct 09, 2019

Microneedling is performed in a treatment room in about 30 – 60 minutes with numbing cream or a local anesthesia if requested, but most patients feel mild or no discomfort. The skin being treated will be cleansed before the microneedling handpiece is gently glided evenly over the skin. This handpiece has tiny needles attached to it, which essentially "punctures" the skin, creating tiny holes. After the microneedling is performed, a topical treatment (and in some cases, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or a vitamin-infused serum) can be applied for deeper penetration of the nutrients into the skin. A moisturizer will be massaged in along with sunscreen since your skin will be sensitive after the procedure.
What to Expect
You may have some swelling and redness for about a day, but this should subside quickly on its own. The skin heals fairly quickly after microneedling and will appear normal to those around you. However, it may take about 1 – 2 months for the final results to appear as the collagen and elastin levels increase before you see visible improvements in the health and appearance of your skin. You should plan to get about 4 – 6 maintenance treatments every 4 – 6 weeks for optimal results and lasting skin health.
