The market for wrinkle relaxers continues to expand. Xeomin is the latest product of this kind offered by Atlanta plastic surgeon, Dr. John Connors. Similar to BOTOX, it is commonly used to treat facial furrows and folds, and persistent wrinkles and lines. Xeomin is made from botulinum type A bacteria, which creates botulism. When injected, it causes a temporary reduction in muscle activity, which creates a softer, younger appearance on the skin’s surface. Dr. Connors often uses a combination of wrinkle relaxers, and many times, combines them with fillers to create a liquid facelift. Each of these options can be discussed in detail during the initial consultation.
"Dr. Connors and his staff are some of the most wonderful people I have met since moving to Atlanta. They truly care about you-how you feel, that you are happy with results, really they treat you like family. If anyone is considering plastic surgery, Dr. Connors is a must, he will make you perfect!"- K.E. / Yelp / Aug 28, 2015

"My new girls!! - Dr. Connor and his staff are the best. They took great care of me. They are very caring and Dr. Connor has an impeccable bedside manner. I had a consultation with another big plastic surgeon here in Atlanta but I did not like he and his staff’s lack of bedside manner and demeanor. The moment I walked in Dr. Connor’s office and met him and his staff I knew he was the doctor for me. I knew I was in good hands. They truly make you feel like family. Dr. Connor called me personally a few hours after surgery to see how I was doing to see if I made it home safely. I would definitely recommend Dr. Connor and his staff."- M. / RealSelf / Nov 22, 2017
"Dr. Connors is the best surgeon I've had! - I have had a couple previous surgeries but none of them compared to the knowledge and expertise of Dr. Connors. His staff was exceptional and took the time to answer questions and ease my concerns. Dr. Connors was very particular about explaining my results based on my body which helped me to feel confident with my decision. I was also impressed with their surgery center and excellent..."- G. / RealSelf / Oct 13, 2017
"57 Yrs Old - Tummy Tuck - Heart Attack, 3 Stents, High Cholesterol, Sleep Apnea, Blood Pressure, and Thyroid. - It was meant for me to find the best surgeon. Dr Connors was made aware immediately of my medical history. He advised me if I wasn't physically able to handle the surgery, he would not have performed the surgery. Plus, instead of performing in his out patient facility, he recommended I go to Northside Hospital to ensure my safety. Mostly, I kept his office informed of everything - my Stree test and EKG results. Plus, my cardiologist sent a letter of clearance to inform the doctor of my condition. When calling Dr Connors office, I received answer. They were there for me during my "worrying" moments and ensured me all wold be well. Plus, after the 2nd day of surgery, the Dr. Connors called me to check on me. Who else does that? I'm looking forward to my 1st week PostOp visit. I'll keep you all posted. Overall to this point, I'm grateful."- R. / RealSelf / Sep 26, 2017
What To Expect
Xeomin is usually a 10 to 20 minute procedure. The doctor will inject Xeomin directly into the patient’s facial muscles. Injections may be administered to more than one area at a time, depending on the condition being treated. Patients may be asked to use eye drops, special contact lenses or other devices to protect their eyes during the procedure. No anesthesia is required, but the doctor can use a topical anesthesia or cold pack to prevent or reduce any patient discomfort.
After the Procedure
Patients may not begin to see results or improvements until 7 days after receiving Xeomin injections. Some patients may experience side effects including neck pain, dry eyes, headache, eyelid swelling or bruising, and pain or redness at the injection site. Results typically last 3 months. Patients should not receive Xeomin injections within 3 months of the last Xeomin treatment.
The expected cost of Xeomin varies, depending on the area and condition being treated. Patients can expect to pay between $250 and $1,500 per Xeomin treatment session.

Xeomin or BOTOX?
Xeomin is different from BOTOX because it does not contain any additives, which lessens the chances of patients building antibodies against the medication. Patients should not use Xeomin with other botulinum products. During a consultation, the cosmetic surgeon can determine the best botulinum product for each patient.
Yes, Xeomin is an FDA-approved product. Based on two US clinical trials, Xeomin is a safe and effective treatment for adults with cervical dystonia, blepharospasm, facial lines, wrinkles and folds. The US is the 20th country to approve the prescription medication.
Medications and Xeomin?
Medications, such as cold and allergy medication, muscle relaxers, sleeping aids and urinary medications can increase the chance of Xeomin’s side effects. Patients should notify the cosmetic surgeon if they are currently using any blood thinners or antibiotics.
Missed a Treatment?
Patients should not worry if they missed a Xeomin treatment. Xeomin injections have a temporary effect, and are given months apart. Missing a dose is not harmful to patients.
