When home skin care products aren't effective but you aren't ready for surgery, consider nonsurgical skin rejuvenation treatments like microneedling to help bring back your natural glow. Atlanta, GA plastic surgeon Dr. John P. Connors is pleased to offer microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy), which uses a collection of fine-gauge needles to safely and effectively create micro-injuries in the needed areas of the skin. The micro-injuries trigger the body's natural production of collagen and elastin, two nutrients that enhance the health and appearance of the skin. As the skin heals, it creates a skin regeneration process leading to a softer, smoother, healthier complexion. Schedule a consultation at John Connors, MD Plastic Surgery to learn more about the benefits of microneedling and ways to customize the treatment for your skin needs and goals.
You may benefit from microneedling if you have slight to moderate skin issues, such as rough skin texture or low elasticity. Microneedling treatments can also reduce the appearance of pores, scars, and stretch marks. We discuss expectations during the consultation, and inform patients that the results may not be immediate. Collagen and elastin need time to have an effect on the skin, but in a matter of a few days or short weeks you will have natural-looking results and gain better overall skin health.
"Dr. Connors and his staff are some of the most wonderful people I have met since moving to Atlanta. "This week I had the pleasure of having both BBL and fillers done at Dr.John Connors gorgeous, and super convenient for suburban Atlanta folks, new Avalon office. This is my first procedure I’ve had done with his office, and look forward to having the wonderful women on their laser and injectable team help me fight the clock! I want to look natural and not over done, and that is exactly the results I’ve achieved. The staff is down to earth, relatable and work with you towards the results you want. A little further down the road I may step up my age-fighting with a face lift, and Dr.Connors will be my guy. He did a septoplasty and rhinoplasty on my son two years ago. His results were absolutely wonderful. His breathing is now normal, and his nose, which had been badly broken a few times, looks great, very masculine and bump free. He’s been thrilled with his results. Also, a bonus if you are getting fillers, and are a needle-phobe, they offer nitrous, same stuff you can get at the dentist, to help take the edge off with no side affects."- J.P. / Google / May 10, 2018

"Rhinoplasty:I had wanted a rhinoplasty for many years, but kept putting it off because I was so nervous and scared. I wanted to still look like myself - just change a few imperfections. After speaking with Dr. Connors and his staff - I felt like I was finally ready. He explained everything the staff was informative and caring as well. It was the best decision! I love my "new" nose. I still look like myself and not "done". I love this office."- L.F. / Google / Apr 26, 2018

Microneedling is performed in a treatment room in about 30 – 60 minutes with numbing cream or a local anesthesia if requested, but most patients feel mild or no discomfort. The skin being treated will be cleansed before the microneedling handpiece is gently glided evenly over the skin. This handpiece has tiny needles attached to it, which essentially "punctures" the skin, creating tiny holes. After the microneedling is performed, a topical treatment (and in some cases, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or a vitamin-infused serum) can be applied for deeper penetration of the nutrients into the skin. A moisturizer will be massaged in along with sunscreen since your skin will be sensitive after the procedure.
What to Expect
You may have some swelling and redness for about a day, but this should subside quickly on its own. The skin heals fairly quickly after microneedling and will appear normal to those around you. However, it may take about 1 – 2 months for the final results to appear as the collagen and elastin levels increase before you see visible improvements in the health and appearance of your skin. You should plan to get about 4 – 6 maintenance treatments every 4 – 6 weeks for optimal results and lasting skin health.
