Atlana plastic surgeon, Dr. Connors, offers laser hair removal services at his cosmetic surgery center. Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses a laser beam of light to target and remove unwanted hair. This light travels through the skin to hit the hair follicle, permanently destroying it. This procedure can remove up to 80-100% of the hair in a specific area. Both men and women are candidates for laser hair removal. The most common treatment areas include the legs, bikini area, underarms and face for women, and back, chest, legs, arms and face for men.
"Dr. Connors and his staff are some of the most wonderful people I have met since moving to Atlanta. They truly care about you-how you feel, that you are happy with results, really they treat you like family. If anyone is considering plastic surgery, Dr. Connors is a must, he will make you perfect!"- K.E. / Yelp / Aug 28, 2015

"My new girls!! - Dr. Connor and his staff are the best. They took great care of me. They are very caring and Dr. Connor has an impeccable bedside manner. I had a consultation with another big plastic surgeon here in Atlanta but I did not like he and his staff’s lack of bedside manner and demeanor. The moment I walked in Dr. Connor’s office and met him and his staff I knew he was the doctor for me. I knew I was in good hands. They truly make you feel like family. Dr. Connor called me personally a few hours after surgery to see how I was doing to see if I made it home safely. I would definitely recommend Dr. Connor and his staff."- M. / RealSelf / Nov 22, 2017

His staff was exceptional and took the time to answer questions and ease my concerns. Dr. Connors was very particular about explaining my results based on my body which helped me to feel confident with my decision. I was also impressed with their surgery center and excellent..."- G. / RealSelf / Oct 13, 2017
"57 Yrs Old - Tummy Tuck - Heart Attack, 3 Stents, High Cholesterol, Sleep Apnea, Blood Pressure, and Thyroid. - It was meant for me to find the best surgeon. Dr Connors was made aware immediately of my medical history. He advised me if I wasn't physically able to handle the surgery, he would not have performed the surgery. Plus, instead of performing in his out patient facility, he recommended I go to Northside Hospital to ensure my safety. Mostly, I kept his office informed of everything - my Stree test and EKG results. Plus, my cardiologist sent a letter of clearance to inform the doctor of my condition. When calling Dr Connors office, I received answer. They were there for me during my "worrying" moments and ensured me all wold be well. Plus, after the 2nd day of surgery, the Dr. Connors called me to check on me. Who else does that? I'm looking forward to my 1st week PostOp visit. I'll keep you all posted. Overall to this point, I'm grateful."- R. / RealSelf / Sep 26, 2017
Laser Hair Removal Procedure
During laser hair removal, the surgeon will place a laser vacuum directly on top of the skin where the hair resides to draw the skin into the hand held piece of equipment. The device stretches and pulls the skin thin so the energy source can target the melanin in the hair. During this process, the follicles absorb the heat the laser beam emits, which damages the follicle and makes it difficult for the hair to grow back. Most patients are able to achieve results in a 30-45 minute session that occurs once every 3-4 weeks over the course of several months.
What to Expect
Throughout the procedure, patients will feel slight pressure as the device is pulling up the skin. However, the laser beam itself only feels like a light sting. Most devices are made with a cooling sequence that occurs between the laser pulses, which helps ease discomfort and reduce the chance of unwanted side effects. There are multiple laser hair removal vacuum devices on the market today that come in different sizes depending on the size of the area being treated. The laser technology will depend on what works best with your hair texture and skin type.
The cost for laser hair removal will depend on various factors. This includes the size of the area being treated, the laser that is used, the number of sessions, who is performing the procedure, and the type of hair that is being removed. For areas such as the bikini and underarms, the approximate cost is about $200 per session. These areas often take fewer sessions to produce good results. Larger areas, such as the back and legs, will require more time and will cost more. On average, these larger areas are about $600-$800 per treatment.

Laser Hair Removal FAQs
Anyone with unwanted hair is a candidate for laser hair removal. However, individuals with darker hair and lighter skin often experience better results. The number of sessions that will be required to produce the desired results will depend on the thickness of hair, how much hair exists in an area, color of the hair, and what the ultimate goal is. Individuals with lighter colored hair may require more treatments.
Why so Many Sessions?
Hair growth occurs in cycles. Some hairs may be in the middle of their growth phase during the treatment session, while others may be dormant. Spreading out the treatment allows the dormant hairs to grow and gives the area time so that all of the hairs are eventually targeted during treatment. Between treatments, the hairs that do grow can be shaved because the follicle is not affected.
What is the Recovery?
Laser hair removal results in zero downtime. The skin will be pink and a tingling sensation may reside on the treated area for a couple of hours after treatment. Patients can leave their appointment and go directly back to work.
Will the Hair Grow Back?
Laser hair removal is considered a solid solution for hair removal, however it is referred to as semi-permanent. There can still be some hair growth that occurs where the laser technology did not hit. Therefore, even though the majority of the hair will be gone, some hairs can still pop up. Patients find that these are tremendously easier to manage than before the original treatments. Additional laser hair removal treatments can also be scheduled to take care of these as well.
